Teen Vogue Exclusive: Stefanie Scott Spills on Her Dream Role
‘Insidious: Chapter 3’ Star Stefanie Scott Spills on Her Dream Role
Teen Vogue: Though she may look as sweet as pie, Stefanie Scott has a dark side. Well, sort of. “I am a big scary-movie fan,” the actress says. “My favorite movie is The Shining.” When Stefanie got the call that she’d been cast in next month’s Insidious: Chapter 3, “I was shaking,” she reveals. “I couldn’t believe I was going to lead a horror film. I was so excited!”
The role is a big departure for Stefanie, 18, who is best known for being on the Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm. To prepare for the supernatural flick, director Leigh Whannell encouraged her to see a psychic. “It was the greatest hour and a half of my life,” Stefanie says. “I really love the paranormal.”
Lucky for the Florida-raised teen, it gets even better. She also stars in the hugely anticipated Jem and the Hologramsmovie, out this fall. The live-action film is based on the cult ’80s cartoon about an all-girl rock band with a major sense of style—picture graphic face paint and neon strands. To play keytarist Kimber, “I dyed my hair orange, which was intense,” Stefanie says. “I felt so cool!” The cast bonded through vigorous musical training. “We had a rehearsal space where we would just jam out all day and run around like rock stars.”
Her career is about to explode, and there is one person who isn’t surprised at all: the psychic. “Everything that he said would happen has happened. The things he predicted came true!” she says. Sounds like a pretty wise fortune-teller.
